5 Places to Visit in Pittsburgh

Updated: Jun 6, 2019

I love living in Pittsburgh. One of my favorite things about living in this city is that there is so much to do! No matter what neighborhood you are in you will likely find something that suits your fancy. If you are a family looking to adventure in the city at a fairly low cost then you have come to the right spot. The best thing about this list of places to visit in Pittsburgh is that most are within walking distance of each other!

#1 Randyland!

The best way to sum up Randyland is that it feels like childhood packed with color! Randyland is a public art display for people near and far to visit. Randyland is open from 10 am-dusk and has free admission with the option to donate some money. It truly is an extraordinary place that you can't help but feel joy when viewing.

#2 Point State Park

Point State Park is one of the many beautiful parks in Pittsburgh. Along the river there are benches where you can sit and enjoy the view. At the point known as the "golden triangle",where the three rivers meet, is a very large water fountain that many people will sit around on hot summer days. The park also hosts a variety of events you can check out here. In addition, the park also has the Fort Pitt Museum (admission price) and the Fort Pitt Blockhouse.

#3 Wood Street Galleries

Wood Street Galleries is another art museum with free admission! The nice thing about Wood Street Galleries is that they are always showcasing new exhibits. The gallery brings artists working in new types of media from around the world. The art will stretch your mind in new and exciting ways.

#4 S.W. Randall Toyes and Gifts Downtown Inc.

S.W. Randall Toyes and Gifts is a must see! It is the largest and oldest toy store in Pittsburgh with a wide range of items it is almost impossible not to find something for everyone. Beware though if you go in it might be similar to a trip to Target. You go in for one item and you come out with ten! They also have two other locations in Shadyside and Squirrel Hill.

#5 Millie's Market Square Scoop Shop

Millie's is a local ice cream shop known for its delicious homemade ice cream! You won't leave Millie's disappointed and warning you might get addicted to the deliciousness! Millie's shop is located right in Market Square which has plenty of restaurants and life-size games for kids and families to play.

P.S. My name is LeeAnn and I am a Pittsburgh family photographer. I am not a typical family photographer because I hate stiffly posed family portraits. Those aren't the moments we want to remember so I don't see the value in photographing them. Wanna know what I am talking about follow me on Instagram, you can see my work there!
