Becoming a mom entrepreneur (or mompreneur or #bossmom) means embracing a plethora of unique challenges and facing them head-on. Finding balance between managing a business, raising a healthy family, and practicing essential self-care is not an easy task. But millions of women everywhere, everyday are making magic happen by pursuing their dream career while raising children and loving on their families at the same time. That’s no different for some badass women right here in Pittsburgh, like Moussia Kohanbash.
Therapeutic, customizable, and inclusive – three words to perfectly describe LaVida Massage of Shadyside, a woman-owned health and wellness haven opened by Moussia in December of 2011. With an elegant yet casual atmosphere, LaVida offers clients massages and facials at an approachable rate.
Moussia is also the mother of two young daughters. She says that a perk of being a business owner and mom is that she gets to set a strong example for her girls.
“It is empowering to work hard for something that is mine and it feels good to lead by example for my daughters,” she says.
Moussia understands some of those unique mompreneur challenges: “Finding balance and staying motivated to be successful are two challenges I’m constantly working on,” she says.
Despite the inevitable trials of entrepreneurship, Moussia encourages all other aspiring boss babes and boss moms to keep at it! If you’re a mom who can’t invest all of your time into a business because you’re busy with #momlife, do not give up. Moussia says to find a support system that you can rely on for help, call on to bounce ideas off of, and reach out to for advice.
“You can do it mama! There are so many #mombosses out there and we are all in it together!”
