Planning a personal brand session takes a lot of brainpower.

Luckily between Lindsay and I, we could hone in on precisely what she needed to update her website.

Lindsay is the owner of Gingerly Press, a sustainable letterpress business. Lindsay creates colorful, modern designs meant to inspire mindfulness and happiness!

DECIDING ON THE CREATIVE DIRECTION

When Lindsay and I started to discuss her session's creative direction, she expressed that she wanted her customers to see her products' creation process.

Every personal brand shoot includes a certain number of stories that we focus on. You can think of stories as themes. These themes relate back to the brand and the goal for the brand shoot.

Lindsay's personal brand shoot included four stories. Because Lindsay's creative process includes various stages, we decided that most of her stories would focus on the creation process.

HER BRAND STORIES FOR HER PERSONAL BRAND SHOOT

We broke her personal brand shoot down like this;

Story 1 Lifestyle Studio Portraits
Story 2 Creation - Designing & Type Set
Story 3 Mixing Inks & The Process of Printing
Story 4 Binding and Packaging

PREPARING FOR HER SHOOT

Next, we took each story and outlined what supplies or props she would need to have prepared for the shoot. This is probably the most challenging part of a brand session because gathering and prepping supplies takes time.

I always recommend that my clients schedule their brand sessions during a slower season to avoid overwhelm.

SCHEDULING HER SESSION

We scheduled Lindsay's session in the mid-morning to catch the beautiful natural sunlight that filled her studio around that time.

Lindsay's session was about 4 hours, and we ended with lifestyle portraits as a nice way to end the shoot.

PICKING THE FINAL IMAGES

Post-session, Lindsay was able to go through the entire gallery of unedited images to pick her final.

I do this for clients because they are the experts on their brand. Giving them full say on which images make it into their final gallery ensures that they get exactly what they need!

Once Lindsay selected her final images, we did a couple of rounds of test edits before sending her final gallery.

Check out some of her final images for her personal brand session below!
