Personal Brand Shoot for Online Business Owner Bookkeeping Brunette

Taylor owner of Bookkeeping Brunette came to me in early October with one BIG problem she needed high-level, quality brand photos that represented the energy of her bookkeeping business.

Taylor was spending hours searching for stock images on Canva and Unsplash only to unhappily post an image that wasn’t consistent with her brand or worse she’d not post at all. There’s nothing more deflating as a new business owner than having your online presence not match the time, energy, and quality of your work as a professional. This is why Taylor knew working with a brand photographer was a must investment.

As a bookkeeping service provider, Taylor wanted to create a brand aesthetic that is welcoming and fun as the bookkeeping industry tends to feel boring, stuffy and confusing for most at best.

So we set out to capture her friendly demeanor, playful spirit, and professional approach as we envisioned the direction of her personal brand. Always coming back to the idea that we wanted to create iconic images that set her brand apart from other bookkeepers.

For Taylor’s brand shoot, we focused on three concepts:

  • creating a suite of custom stock images she could use in proposals, on stories, and as inline images on her website to support her copy

  • Iconic hero banner photos for various pages on her website, designed to quickly stand out and grab the attention of a first-time site visitor (we only get 7 seconds)

  • Lifestyle, everyday working portraits that she could post more frequently on social media, in blog posts, in her newsletter, or on stories

Once we had the three main concepts for her brand shoot I created a custom mood board with hair and outfit recommendations, a prop list, and a detailed list of the types of photos we would capture throughout her session.

The #1 key component of a successful brand shoot is creating a variety of images that serve different content needs. In order to do this successfully you need time to change clothes, hair, and scenes. Taylor’s photoshoot was a half-day which gave us ample time to create a suite of one-of-a-kind images for her branded stock photos and hero banner images for her website.

After her brand shoot, we scheduled her content strategy session where I presented the proofs from her shoot. I do this with all my clients because I’ve found that most business owners need help identifying which images are best for what purpose.

The content strategy call is a bonus add I give my clients so they have the chance to ask questions and to get expert advice on how to best use their images on their website and in their marketing.

Taylor received her final brand photos about a few weeks after her session and was able to immediately put them to use on her website and her social saving her hours and hours of wasted time. As a cherry on top, she booked a client in the following weeks who said she decided to work with her because her website looked so professional.
